6 Strategies for success in your business
Here are my top 6 success strategies to help you make 2021 your best year yet as a real estate agent. I talk about Personal Branding, Social Media Strategies and how to find your “Why”. - FOCUS ON DIGITAL MARKETING
Number one, you have to focus on digital marketing. This is truly a no brainer. As the pandemic rages on consumers are spending less time outside, so they won’t see your static billboards and bus stop benches, and they are spending more time in the digital world with zoom meetings, and all the different social media sites like YouTube, Facebook and Instagram, as well as dropping chat platforms like the now very popular app clubhouse. Now, to have the most success on these social media platforms, Video is the key. I’ve been saying it for years now, Facebook and Instagram push video content more frequently. Not to mention YouTube is the second largest search engine on the internet, next to their owners, Google. There are two types of video content that you should be mastering in 2021. Long Form video and short form video long form is where YouTube shines. Think about creating videos around the most common questions that consumers may have, or become the digital mayor of your city and produce content, like what are the top restaurants in your city or spotlight 30 businesses in 30 days, or what are your favorite outdoor activities in your city or a segment called know your neighborhoods. When thinking, a short form video. Think about quick segments. This is where platforms like Tiktok Instagram stories and Instagram reels really shine use these tools to document your day or produce behind the scenes content to complement your long form segments. Let the consumer in, and let them get to know you, trust me. Authenticity sells all day, for real estate agent, short form videos get a massive organic engagement, TV shows like million dollar listing wouldn’t be so popular, if people didn’t like to see the behind the scenes life of of selling real estate. Well, our lives may not be as glamorous as those of TV but people are still really interested in how people live and work. Especially as so many of us are encouraged not to go out. So if you want to show up when people search in your area, or guide people to your unique offer. Make sure you have a steady stream of video based content. And here’s a pro tip, add captions to all your videos, 80% of people watch video on social media, with the sound off.
While we’re on the topic of ranking high with search engines. Start a real estate blog. Trust me, one of the most painful things to do, is Seo or search engine optimization. It’s really not that much fun. However, adding a blog to your website and updating it with articles, one to three times a week, can do wonders for your ranking Google loves to know your site is active, and up to date.
- REFINE YOUR PERSONAL BRANDING
This brings us to my second strategy for success in 2021, and that is personal branding. Remember, branding is what people say about you when you’re not in the room. This is something every agent knows but few talk about, we have to remember that consumers work with agents who they know, like and trust. Remember, you are your brand and not your brokerage. In the real estate market, you need a distinctive voice and approach to stand out in a heavily competitive career where the consumer sees many of us as the same. There will always be downward pressure on commission’s, personal branding takes a little bit of reverse engineering. First, you need to understand your target market. Second, figure out what they want to see. And third, deliver it to them.
- EMAIL MARKETING
We’re seeing a rise in email marketing. With so many people at home, and out of their offices, they are checking their emails more frequently. Now, when I refer to email marketing, I’m not talking about spamming the crap out of a 10,000 person contact list. What I’m talking about is sending thoughtful emails to your sphere, to check in on them and make sure that they’re okay and delivering updates via a weekly update email. With these weekly updates don’t make them all about real estate, think more of a community update with upcoming events, new businesses, and great restaurant features. You can really repurpose much of the content from the first two strategies and put it into your weekly email. One of the most useful tools I find to deliver both weekly digest type of emails, as well as authentic one on one communication with my sphere is Bomb Bomb. This video email platform has many useful add ons that go beyond just sending video to clients.
- YOU NEED TO BE WHERE YOUR MARKET IS
Now, we need to bring the first three strategies, all together. That brings me to my fourth strategy, being omnipresent, essentially being everywhere your target market is, I know. Easier said than done. This is more like a math formula, than it is a content formula. See frequency leads to consumers of your content liking you via authentically delivered valuable content. Once your market likes you. They will seek out more clear value driven content. If you keep delivering value first your market will then trust you. Once you have their trust, they will do business with you. So frequency and familiarity familiarity leads to trust. Once you have their trust, they will do business with you. Seems all pretty simple. However, if you don’t have the proper schedule. You won’t do what needs to be done.
(5) TIME BLOCK YOUR SCHEDULE
Which brings me to my fifth point, You have to have a time block schedule. See, just like my mentor Gary Vee says “ ideas are shit, execution is a game”. You must time block your schedule, in order to execute the first four strategies, trust me. Monday turns into Friday, real quick, and it’s such a busy market. This happens in the blink of an eye, and before you know it, you haven’t executed on anything onto my last, and maybe most controversial topic for some.
(6) COMMUNITY SERVICE)
My sixth strategy is all about community service. Now, hold on, hold on. Before you say calling you should never leverage community service as a means to improve your business, hear me out. I’m adding this, because it’s not a means for you to get more business. What it is a way for you to build empathy for your community. And on top of that, to figure out your why. Nothing else matters if you aren’t working for a higher purpose.
Before you execute on any of my suggestions, you need to have a clear grasp on why you’re doing what you’re doing. If you don’t know yours, stop figure that out first, then implement my other strategies. See, you must have a North Star that guides you because things will get tough and having that guiding star will help you get through those times, without a doubt, the effects of the coronavirus pandemic have taken a toll on our local communities. There are many people who have lost their jobs and others that have had their businesses adversely affected. During this time, it’s up to us, who should be stepping up and giving back to the community by making donations to the less fortunate and being actively involved in the community, even if it’s something as simple as delivering groceries, to senior who may not want to be in a public setting in order to limit their exposure. All in all, just get out there and be a good steward in your community.
